SCRIVY TERMS OF SERVICE

Welcome to Scrivy. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Scrivy platform, website, services, applications, and related functionality available through scrivy.co and related domains (collectively, the "Service"). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Scrivy ("Scrivy," "we," "us," or "our").
BY ACCESSING OR USING THE SERVICE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, YOU MAY NOT ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least eighteen (18) years old and legally capable of entering into binding contracts to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years old;
- You have the authority to enter into agreement as to these Terms;
- All information you provide to Scrivy is accurate and complete; and
- Your use of the Service complies with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and third-party platform requirements.
2. Description of Service
Scrivy is a software platform that facilitates the distribution of advance reader copies ("ARCs") and related reader feedback services between authors and readers.
Scrivy provides tools that allow authors to upload content, distribute ARCs, manage reader campaigns, and receive reader feedback.
Scrivy does not:
- Guarantee reviews on Amazon or any third-party platform;
- Require readers to post reviews on third-party platforms;
- Guarantee the publication, retention, visibility, or ranking of any review;
- Control third-party platform moderation or enforcement decisions; or
- Guarantee any commercial, advertising, marketing, or sales outcome.
Any reviews posted on third-party platforms reflect the independent opinions of individual readers.
3. Account Registration & Security
To access certain features of the Service, you must register for an account.
You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information;
- Maintain and promptly update your account information;
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of your login credentials;
- Accept responsibility for all activity occurring under your account; and
- Promptly notify Scrivy of any unauthorized access or suspected security breach.
Scrivy reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate accounts at any time in its sole discretion.
4. Author Content & License
4.1 Ownership of Content
You retain ownership of all books, manuscripts, cover art, text, graphics, metadata, and other content you upload or submit through the Service (collectively, "Content").
4.2 License to Scrivy
By uploading or submitting Content, you grant Scrivy a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to:
- Host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, distribute, and make available your Content;
- Reformat or modify your Content as necessary for technical compatibility;
- Distribute ARCs to readers;
- Use excerpts, cover images, titles, author names, and related metadata in connection with operating, marketing, promoting, and improving the Service; and
- Exercise all rights reasonably necessary to provide the Service.
This license continues for so long as your Content remains on or is distributed through the Service.
4.3 Author Representations & Warranties
You represent and warrant that:
- You own or possess all rights necessary to upload, distribute, license, and authorize use of the Content;
- Your Content does not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other proprietary rights;
- Your Content complies with all applicable laws and regulations;
- Your Content does not contain unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, obscene, or malicious material;
- You possess all rights necessary to distribute ARC copies through the Service; and
- Your use of the Service complies with the terms, policies, and requirements of all applicable third-party platforms.
5. Reviews, Feedback, & Third-Party Platforms
Scrivy facilitates ARC distribution and reader feedback services only.
Readers may independently choose whether to post reviews or feedback on third-party platforms, including but not limited to Amazon, Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), Goodreads, Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and similar Third-Party Platforms.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Third-Party Platforms operate independently from Scrivy;
- Scrivy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by Amazon or other Third-Party Platforms;
- Third-Party Platforms maintain their own rules, algorithms, moderation systems, enforcement policies, and review standards;
- Scrivy has no control over whether reviews are posted, removed, suppressed, ranked, flagged, or otherwise moderated;
- Scrivy makes no representations or guarantees regarding review publication, visibility, retention, or effectiveness;
- You are solely responsible for independently reviewing, understanding, monitoring, and complying with all applicable Third-Party Platform policies, terms of service, community guidelines, advertising policies, review policies, and enforcement standards;
- You are solely responsible for determining whether your use of the Service complies with Amazon, KDP, Goodreads, or any other Third-Party Platform requirements;
- Scrivy does not provide legal advice, compliance advice, or guarantees regarding compliance with any Third-Party Platform policies;
- Scrivy does not direct, control, supervise, require, induce, or guarantee any third-party review activity;
- Scrivy does not require readers to post reviews on Amazon or any other Third-Party Platform;
- Scrivy does not condition compensation, platform access, ARC distribution, benefits, or reader participation upon any specific review outcome, rating, sentiment, or third-party posting activity;
- You are solely responsible for maintaining your accounts in good standing with Third-Party Platforms; and
- Scrivy shall not be liable for review removals, account suspensions, warnings, demonetization, advertising restrictions, ranking changes, algorithmic actions, account investigations, withholding of royalties, removal of books, termination of advertising privileges, or any other third-party enforcement actions or consequences.
You further acknowledge and agree that:
- Third-Party Platforms, including Amazon and KDP, may modify their policies, enforcement standards, algorithms, or review practices at any time without notice;
- Enforcement actions by Third-Party Platforms may occur through automated systems outside Scrivy's control;
- Scrivy cannot predict, prevent, appeal, reverse, or influence third-party enforcement decisions;
- Your use of the Service is undertaken voluntarily and at your own risk with respect to Third-Party Platform compliance and enforcement;
- Scrivy shall not be responsible for monitoring your compliance with Third-Party Platform rules;
- No statement, communication, marketing material, feature description, customer support communication, or platform content shall be interpreted as a guarantee that use of the Service complies with any Third-Party Platform policy; and
- You waive and release Scrivy from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or causes of action arising from or relating to actions taken by Amazon or any other Third-Party Platform against you, your books, your advertisements, your reviews, your rankings, or your accounts.
Scrivy does not require, guarantee, purchase, manipulate, or condition compensation upon any specific review content, review rating, or third-party posting activity.
6. Amazon, KDP & Third-Party Platform Compliance
Scrivy shall not be held responsible by any Author for Author's non-compliance with any Third-Party Platform, including any terms, conditions, policies, rules, or other such conditions for use. Authors engage Scrivy at their own risk; if the Author's utilization of Scrivy violates, directly or indirectly, the compliance standards of any Third-Party Platform, the Author accepts full responsibility.
Additionally:
- Scrivy does not provide compliance advice, review, or assistance;
- Policies may change without notice – it is the duty of Authors to remain up-to-date on all applicable policies, Scrivy or Third-Party Platform;
- Author is solely responsible for all platform compliance;
- Scrivy offers no guarantee of compliance with any Third-Party Platform policies; and
- Author assumes all risk of enforcement actions of Third-Party Platforms.
7. Reader Conduct & ARC Distribution Risks
Readers are independent third-parties. Scrivy cannot control the conduct of Readers. Authors assume all risks associated with the distribution of ARCs; Scrivy is not liable for piracy, misappropriation, redistribution, infringement, unauthorized publication, or any other unintended use of the ARC.
Scrivy has no control over, and does not guarantee that readers will complete assignments, provide reviews, or otherwise meet Author expectations.
8. Artificial Intelligence Features
Scrivy may offer tools and functionality that utilize artificial intelligence, machine learning systems, large language models, image generation models, embeddings, natural language processing technologies, and similar automated technologies (collectively, "AI Features").
AI Features may be provided through Scrivy's proprietary systems and/or third-party providers, which may include OpenAI, Anthropic, Replicate, DeepSeek, and other providers selected by Scrivy from time to time.
By using AI Features, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Content you upload to the Service, including manuscripts, book descriptions, metadata, cover images, sales information, keywords, and related materials, may be transmitted to, processed by, analyzed by, or stored by third-party AI providers as necessary to provide the requested functionality;
- Scrivy may utilize AI Features to generate or assist in generating book descriptions, A+ content, cover concepts, category recommendations, keyword recommendations, metadata suggestions, optimization recommendations, analytical reports, and other outputs;
- AI-generated outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, omissions, misleading information, or content that is incomplete or unsuitable for your intended purpose;
- AI-generated outputs may not be unique and may contain concepts, language, themes, images, or elements similar to content generated for other users;
- Scrivy makes no representation or warranty regarding the originality, ownership, copyrightability, protectability, legality, accuracy, commercial value, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of any AI-generated output;
- You are solely responsible for reviewing, evaluating, editing, verifying, and approving any AI-generated output before publication, distribution, advertising, or commercial use;
- Scrivy does not guarantee that any AI-generated output will comply with Amazon, KDP, Goodreads, advertising platform requirements, intellectual property laws, trademark laws, copyright laws, consumer protection laws, or any other legal or regulatory requirements; and
- AI providers, AI models, and AI functionality may be modified, replaced, suspended, or discontinued at any time without liability to Scrivy.
SCRIVY DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO AI-GENERATED CONTENT, INCLUDING CLAIMS RELATING TO INFRINGEMENT, MISAPPROPRIATION, DEFAMATION, INACCURACY, COMMERCIAL PERFORMANCE, OR REGULATORY COMPLIANCE.
9. Data Storage & Security
Scrivy utilizes commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect user information and uploaded Content. However, no system, network, software platform, cloud environment, or method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- Your Content, including manuscripts, advance reader copies (ARCs), cover images, metadata, sales information, and related materials, may be stored electronically on systems operated by Scrivy and its service providers;
- Scrivy may utilize third-party hosting providers, cloud infrastructure providers, analytics providers, authentication providers, payment processors, communications providers, AI providers, and related service providers in connection with operation of the Service;
- Unauthorized access, security incidents, data breaches, theft, corruption, alteration, deletion, disclosure, or loss of data may occur despite reasonable security measures;
- Scrivy cannot guarantee that your Content will never be accessed, copied, disclosed, altered, lost, stolen, corrupted, or destroyed;
- You are solely responsible for maintaining backup copies of all Content uploaded to the Service; and
- Scrivy shall not be responsible for any loss, corruption, destruction, disclosure, unavailability, or unauthorized access relating to your Content except to the extent such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
Scrivy reserves the right to remove, archive, delete, or restrict access to Content as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, comply with legal obligations, investigate suspected violations, protect users, or maintain system integrity.
10. Subscription Services, Credits & Refunds
Author utilization of Scrivy's comprehensive set of tools is based on a monthly subscription model; subscriptions are offered at both a "Pro" tier and an "Ultra" tier. The Pro Subscription costs $29.00, billed monthly, and offers use of all of Scrivy's tools for up to 5 books per month; The Ultra Subscription costs $79.00 monthly, and offers use of all of Scrivy's tools for up to 25 books per month. Ultra also includes priority support.
Pricing for reviews is provided within the Service list and may vary based on tier, promotional offers, or other such factors. This pricing remains subject to change. Current pricing will always be reflected at purchase checkout.
Any funds will be added to your Scrivy account as prepaid service credits to be applied toward ARC distribution and other fees. Credits are not representative of a cash account, stored-value account, or escrow account. The credits hold no independent cash value. Deposits are not recurring subscriptions. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Scrivy does not store and is not responsible for the security of card or payment details.
10.1 Refunds of Unused Credits
Unused, and unallocated credits may be refunded by requesting a refund by contacting support@scrivy.co. "Allocation" shall mean the assignment ARCs from your remaining credit balance and readers have been assigned.
Once credits have been allocated to ARCs and readers have been assigned, funds for those credits become non-refundable, as it is presumed that readers have already begun the reading and review process.
11. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Upload or distribute Content you do not have the legal right to use;
- Infringe or violate the intellectual property or proprietary rights of others;
- Submit false, deceptive, misleading, or fraudulent information;
- Manipulate, falsify, coordinate, or improperly influence reviews or reader feedback;
- Require, incentivize, pressure, or condition compensation upon positive reviews or specific review outcomes;
- Use fake accounts, bots, automation tools, scraping tools, or unauthorized scripts;
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent third-party platform rules or enforcement systems;
- Introduce malware, malicious code, or harmful material into the Service;
- Interfere with the operation, security, or integrity of the Service; or
- Use the Service in violation of applicable law.
Scrivy reserves the right to investigate suspected violations and to remove Content, suspend accounts, terminate access, revoke credits, or take any other action deemed appropriate in its sole discretion.
12. Payments, Credits, & Refunds
12.1 Pricing
Pricing, fees, and service tiers are displayed within the Service and may be modified at any time.
12.2 Service Credits
Funds added to your account constitute prepaid service credits for use within the Service only. Credits:
- Are not bank accounts, escrow accounts, or stored-value accounts;
- Have no independent cash value;
- Are non-transferable unless expressly authorized by Scrivy; and
- May only be used for services offered through the platform.
12.3 Refunds
Unused credits may be refundable at Scrivy's discretion.
Once credits have been allocated, distributed, committed to a campaign, or otherwise used in connection with ARC distribution or reader activity, such amounts become non-refundable.
12.4 Payment Processing
Payments are processed through third-party payment processors, including Stripe. Scrivy does not store full payment card information.
You authorize Scrivy and its payment processors to charge all applicable fees and charges associated with your use of the Service.
13. Amazon Ads Integration
Scrivy may offer optional integrations with Amazon Advertising and related services.
By connecting your Amazon Advertising or related accounts, you authorize Scrivy to access and interact with certain advertising data and campaign settings solely for purposes of providing the integration functionality.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- You remain solely responsible for your advertising accounts, budgets, bids, campaigns, keywords, and advertising spend;
- Scrivy does not guarantee advertising performance, sales, rankings, impressions, return on ad spend, or commercial outcomes;
- Amazon may modify, restrict, suspend, or terminate API access or integration functionality at any time;
- You are solely responsible for compliance with Amazon advertising policies and applicable laws; and
- Scrivy shall not be liable for advertising losses, account actions, policy enforcement, or performance issues.
You may revoke integration access at any time through your account settings or applicable third-party account settings.
14. Intellectual Property Complaints
Scrivy respects intellectual property rights and reserves the right to remove or disable access to allegedly infringing material.
If you believe material available through the Service infringes your intellectual property rights, you may submit a notice to:
Scrivy reserves the right to remove Content, suspend accounts, or terminate repeat infringers in its sole discretion.
15. Privacy
Scrivy may collect and process information including:
- Names and account information;
- Email addresses;
- Payment-related information;
- Uploaded Content and user-generated content;
- Reader activity and platform usage data;
- Device, browser, and IP information; and
- Analytics and tracking information.
By using the Service, you consent to Scrivy's collection, use, storage, and processing of information as described in these Terms and any associated Privacy Policy.
Scrivy may use third-party providers for hosting, analytics, payment processing, communications, authentication, and related services.
While Scrivy uses commercially reasonable safeguards, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and Scrivy cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS," "AS AVAILABLE," AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SCRIVY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AND AVAILABILITY.
SCRIVY DOES NOT WARRANT THAT:
- THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE;
- REVIEWS WILL BE POSTED OR MAINTAINED;
- THIRD-PARTY PLATFORMS WILL ACCEPT OR DISPLAY REVIEWS;
- THE SERVICE WILL PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR RESULT; OR
- THE SERVICE WILL BE SECURE OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
17. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SCRIVY AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, AGENTS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
THIS LIMITATION APPLIES TO DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO:
- USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE;
- REVIEW REMOVALS OR THIRD-PARTY PLATFORM ENFORCEMENT;
- ACCOUNT SUSPENSIONS OR PLATFORM RESTRICTIONS;
- LOSS OF REVENUE, PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES;
- USER CONTENT OR READER FEEDBACK;
- UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS OR SECURITY BREACHES; OR
- ERRORS, INTERRUPTIONS, OR SERVICE FAILURES.
IN NO EVENT SHALL SCRIVY'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO SCRIVY DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
18. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Scrivy and its owners, officers, directors, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors, agents, and service providers from and against any claims, demands, actions, liabilities, damages, judgments, settlements, penalties, fines, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or relating to:
- Your use of the Service;
- Your Content;
- Your violation of these Terms;
- Your violation of any law or regulation;
- Your infringement or alleged infringement of intellectual property or other rights;
- Your interactions with readers or third-party platforms;
- Any disputes arising from your campaigns, reviews, advertising activities, or uploaded materials;
- Any alleged or actual violation of Amazon, KDP, Goodreads, or other third-party platform policies arising from your use of the Service;
- Any review-related dispute, investigation, enforcement action, or account penalty involving a third-party platform;
- Any claim that Scrivy caused, contributed to, facilitated, encouraged, or failed to prevent alleged violations of third-party platform policies; or
- Any suspension, restriction, demonetization, takedown, ranking penalty, advertising limitation, or termination affecting your third-party accounts, books, campaigns, or reviews.
You further agree that Scrivy shall have no obligation to monitor, interpret, or ensure your compliance with any terms, conditions, policies, guidelines, or requirements of Amazon, KDP, Goodreads, or any other Third-Party Platform. Responsibility for understanding, monitoring, and complying with such requirements belongs solely to you, the Author.
19. Suspension & Termination
Scrivy may suspend, restrict, remove, or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason or no reason, including suspected violations of these Terms.
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Service immediately ceases;
- Scrivy may remove or disable access to Content;
- Unused credits may be forfeited to the extent permitted by law; and
- Sections intended to survive termination shall remain in effect.
20. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be addressed through good-faith informal negotiations.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the dispute shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered in Massachusetts in accordance with applicable arbitration rules.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- DISPUTES SHALL BE RESOLVED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS;
- CLASS ACTIONS AND CLASS ARBITRATIONS ARE WAIVED; AND
- YOU WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL.
21. Modifications to Terms
Scrivy may modify these Terms at any time.
Updated Terms become effective upon posting unless otherwise stated. Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
22. General Provisions
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Scrivy regarding the Service and supersede prior agreements or understandings.
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Scrivy's failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver.
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without Scrivy's prior written consent. Scrivy may assign these Terms without restriction.
