Terms of Service

Effective Date: April 24, 2026

Welcome to Scrivy. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Scrivy website at scrivy.co (the "Service"), operated by Scrivy. By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the Service in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old to use Scrivy.

2. Description of Service

Scrivy is a platform that helps authors distribute advance reader copies (ARCs) of their books to real readers for the purpose of obtaining honest reader feedback. Authors upload their books, select the number of ARCs they would like to distribute, and pay a flat rate per copy. Scrivy facilitates this process by distributing books to readers and collecting their feedback.

What you are paying for: You are paying for ARC distribution and the reader feedback service provided through our platform. You are not paying for reviews on Amazon or any other third-party site. Whether a reader chooses to post a review on a third-party platform is entirely at their discretion, and Scrivy does not require, incentivize, or guarantee that any reader will do so.

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
  • Maintain the security of your password and accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notify us immediately at hello@scrivy.co if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe to be fraudulent.

4. Book Submissions

When you submit a book to Scrivy, you:

  • Represent and warrant that you are the author or have the legal right to distribute the book content.
  • Grant Scrivy a limited, non-exclusive license to store, distribute, and display your book content solely for the purpose of facilitating the review process.
  • Acknowledge that your book will be shared with readers selected to provide reviews.
  • Are responsible for ensuring your book content does not violate any applicable laws, third-party rights, or these Terms.

Book files (PDFs) and cover images are stored securely using Vercel Blob storage. We do not claim ownership of your book content.

5. Payment Terms

  • Review pricing is displayed within the Service and may vary based on service tier, promotional offers, or other factors. Scrivy reserves the right to change pricing at any time. Current pricing will always be clearly shown before you confirm a purchase.
  • Funds are added to your Scrivy account as prepaid service credits to be applied toward ARC distribution and platform fees. Credits do not represent a cash account, stored-value account, or escrow account and hold no independent cash value. Deposits are not recurring subscriptions.
  • All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Scrivy does not store your full payment card details.
  • Refunds for unused credits: If you have not yet allocated ARCs from your credit balance, you may request a refund of unused funds by contacting us at support@scrivy.co.
  • Non-refundable after allocation: Once credits have been allocated to ARCs and readers have been assigned, those funds are non-refundable, as readers have already begun the reading and feedback process.

6. Intellectual Property

Your Content: You retain all ownership rights to the books and materials you upload to Scrivy. The limited license you grant us (described in Section 4) is solely for the purpose of operating the Service and terminates when you delete your content or account.

Our Content: The Scrivy name, logo, website design, and all associated branding are the intellectual property of Scrivy. You may not use, copy, or reproduce our branding without our prior written consent.

7. Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Attempt to manipulate, game, or falsify the review process.
  • Use the Service for any purpose other than legitimate ARC distribution and reader feedback.
  • Offer bonuses, incentives, or conditions that tie compensation to a specific type of feedback, review rating, or requirement to post on a third-party platform.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other user accounts, or our systems.
  • Use automated bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access or interact with the Service.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.

Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account termination without refund.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scrivy and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to:

  • The content, quality, or nature of reviews received through the Service.
  • Loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from use of the Service.
  • Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Our total liability to you for any claims arising from the use of the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to Scrivy in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Third-Party Platforms & Amazon

Scrivy facilitates ARC distribution — connecting authors with readers who receive advance copies and provide feedback. Readers may independently choose to post reviews on third-party platforms, including but not limited to Amazon and Amazon KDP. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Amazon and other third-party platforms are independent services with their own terms, policies, and automated enforcement systems. Scrivy has no control over these platforms or their decisions.
  • Amazon may remove reviews at any time due to their automated enforcement policies. Scrivy does not guarantee that any review will remain published on any third-party platform.
  • You are solely responsible for maintaining your Amazon, KDP, and any other third-party accounts in good standing and for complying with their respective terms and policies.
  • Scrivy is not liable for any actions that Amazon or any other third-party platform takes on your account, including but not limited to review removal, account warnings, or account suspension.
  • Scrivy does not require, incentivize, or influence the content of any reviews. Posting reviews on third-party platforms is always optional and never a condition of reader compensation. All reviews reflect the independent and honest opinions of the readers who post them.
  • This ARC distribution model follows the same established practice used by traditional publishers for decades: providing advance copies to readers in exchange for their honest feedback.

10. Amazon Ads Integration (Optional)

Scrivy offers an optional integration that enables authors to manage and optimize their Amazon Advertising campaigns from within Scrivy using the Amazon Ads API. This integration is off by default and only activates after you complete Amazon's "Login with Amazon" consent flow. By connecting your Amazon Ads account, you:

  • Grant Scrivy limited, revocable authority to access and act on advertising data in your Amazon Ads account on your behalf, solely for the purpose of providing the Service's ads-management features.
  • Understand that any changes Scrivy proposes or applies to your campaigns — including bids, budgets, keywords, negative keywords, targets, and campaign state — may affect your ad spend. You remain solely responsible for funding, monitoring, and reconciling all advertising costs incurred on your Amazon Ads account.
  • Acknowledge that Scrivy does not guarantee any particular advertising result, return on ad spend, ACoS, impression share, or sales outcome. Ad performance depends on many factors outside Scrivy's control, including Amazon's auction dynamics, your book's listing quality, seasonality, competition, and Amazon's policies.
  • Are responsible for maintaining your Amazon Advertising and KDP accounts in good standing and for complying with Amazon's advertising policies, program terms, and applicable laws.
  • May revoke Scrivy's access at any time through Scrivy's account settings or directly at Amazon's Login with Amazon app management page. Revocation takes effect immediately; however, any changes already applied to your account prior to revocation remain in effect until you modify them in Amazon Ads.
  • Understand that this integration depends on Amazon's continued availability and approval of Scrivy as an Amazon Ads API consumer, and may be modified, paused, or withdrawn at Amazon's direction or as required by Amazon's policies.

Scrivy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. "Amazon," "Amazon Ads," "Kindle," "KDP," and related marks are the property of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

11. Termination

By You: You may close your account at any time by contacting us at hello@scrivy.co. Upon account closure, your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By Us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, the Service, or third parties.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If a resolution cannot be reached, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with applicable arbitration rules.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We may also notify you of significant changes via email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and close your account.
